First Light Films specializes in producing educational films that focus on environmental and social issues. From the Amazon jungle to Mount Everest, from American suburbs to the South Pole, we tell stories that help people understand the wonders of the Earth, and how they can be preserved. From Dottie Fox, a founder of the Wilderness Workshop, to Amory Lovins, the pioneer of energy efficiency, to Olympic skier Billy Kidd, a champion of disabled athletes, we profile heroes who are making the world a better place. Over the last twenty years we have worked on over a hundred documentary films for PBS, BBC, TBS, Discovery, ABC, CBS, NBC, and National Geographic Television. Our films illuminate complex issues by telling human interest stories that appeal to a wide audience.

First Light Films is a partnership between James Brundige, a veteran filmmaker, and Chelsea Congdon, a conservationist widely recognized for her writing and speaking about environmental issues.

Our state-of-the-art production facility is located in Snowmass, Colorado, in the heart of Colorado’s Elk Mountains. We feature three complete editing suites. High Definition content is edited on an Avid HD system or Final Cut Pro HD. Standard definition resides on the Avid Meridian Media Composer. We have a full Pro Tools based work station for audio post production, and a state-of-the-art recording studio for voice over and music recording.

Our team includes documentary film makers, writers, editors and producers with a wide range of experiences and perspectives.
